Launched Today Feedtwister - Combine Your Favorite RSS Feeds

By Ollie Parsley in General on June 1 2007

FeedtwisterI received an e-mail today asking if i would take a look at Feedtwister.com. In the e-mail they said the following about Feedtwister.

  1. Feedtwister allows you to mix up to 50 feeds to generate a new list, with the info you want.
  2. All feed formats are supported and you can create as many lists as you want.
  3. You can include the results on your website by including a simple code provided by the system (with two options: php include or javascript).
  4. There are many features, like the possibility to assign an image to each blog, order posts the way you desire, limit the total posts and per source, and more.
  5. Also, there’s an unique directory of feeds, where you can get new feeds to add to your list. All this a click away. Every feed included in the directory, has a score, which is obtained from its Pagerank, Technorati, Google links and more. This info is shown and daily updated, giving the user a lot of information.

So from reading the e-mail it looked an interesting tool. At first i couldn’t think of an actualy use for it. But then i thought…

On my Firefox toolbar I have about 10 RSS feeds amungst other buttons. So i could combine my feeds into a few categories and save space!

So that is what I have done. I combined a few feeds using their really easy user interface. You just type in the feed and Feedtwister does all the work. You then get presented with 2 ways of integrating into your site. A php include or JavaScript. That made me think, my original idea isflawed if I don’t get an RSS feed in return! What you actually do is choose a template for you list. You can customise it using HTML tags. Here is the pphp include page you get when you check your feed is ok.

The ID of my list was 58. So i am going to assume that not that many people have had a look yet. After all it launched today!

Overal it looks like a neat idea. I would just prefer an RSS feed given back to me rather than a customisable HTML page

Check the site out for yourself!
